I'm Ivy and I've been a part of Mama Africana since we started the organization back in 2005. I've had the privilege of meeting dozens of girls and have walked with them in building relationships with Jesus and with one another, and growing in their ethnic identities.
I joined Mama Africana because I believed in our mission of teaching young black girls to love and embrace who they are. I wanted to be a part of a legacy that teaches young black girls to become black women, who in turn will teach other black girls the same. And even now, many years later I still believe in Mama Africana's mission to change the world, one girl at a time. The cycle never stops, we will never stop giving of ourselves or sharing our lives, until black girls know that for such a time as this, they are change the world needs.
